Netizens are buzzing over a picture of IU that was uploaded onto the website of a facial plastic surgery clinic.
Noting that the clinic specializes in jaw surgery, netizens wondered whether the picture was taken after she had undergone surgery herself. After all, it’s normal for celebrities to pose for a picture with doctors if they get sponsorships from their clinics.
The speculation led Loen Entertainment to clarify the matter through TV Daily on May 20th. They stated, “Rumors of her getting jaw surgery are completely unfounded. The clinic pictured in the photo does specialize in jaw surgery, but they also do dermatology as well. IU went to the clinic once or twice in 2009 for skin care, but she hasn’t returned since. It’s weird that people think that she automatically received surgery because she took a picture in a clinic. There are pictures of other celebrities with that clinic and we’re gravely upset that it’s only IU who received such rumors.”
They continued, “We would just like to thank everyone for their interest in IU, but as she is still young, we ask that you please refrain from creating rumors that will hurt her.”
IU’s picture in London on her birthday was made public.
Leon Entertainment, IU’s entertainment agency, released a picture of IU that was hidden so far on their public twitter. IU was in London last month for a pictorial shoot and she showed off her pure side.
Netizens commented, “She looks cute and innocent,” ‘happy 19th birthday!”
Also there was a special event celebrating IU’s birthday. If people twit a comment through a random selection, some may receive a present. The agency said, “this is a small event for the fans who loves IU so much. We ask for constant support.”

On May 16th, singer IU celebrated her 18th (19th in Korea) birthday.
The idol updated her me2day account, saying, “Tadaa! I really wore this when I went to film today.” In the attached picture, IU took a proof shot of the t-shirt she received as a gift from fans. This gift was especially special to her because it was directly handmade by a fan.
With a big smile on her face, IU showed her approval of the gift.
She also posted, “I came back after finishing my schedule, but my birthday has already come to an end! I was so nervous all day that I forgot it was my birthday, but I thank everyone who congratulated my birthday throughout the day! Mom, Dad, I love you!”
Meanwhile, IU also revealed a picture of a gift from a fan that read ‘PG-19′ (rated R).
Before you put your mind in the gutter, the gift turned out to be a rice cake that was delivered to her while she was MCing at SBS’s “Inkigayo“.
IU stated, “Birthday rice cake that was delivered to Inkigayo! I will eat it deliciously with the other performers and staff members. Thank you. I want to take and upload a picture of each gift and letter, but I will slowly greet you all.”
In the picture, IU is expressing a ’surprised’ expression. On top of her expression, the box she was holding had a ‘rated R’ sticker on top. Because of this, it is understandable why many fans mistook to present for an ‘adult’ gift.
Netizens jokingly commented, “Could it be, a rated R tape?”, “OMG, rated R… ke”, and “Why are my eyes drawn to the 19 on the rice cake box?”.

2PM’s Wooyoung recently surprised IU by pretending to be a fan of hers on the phone!
When IU guested on the radio program, “Lee Soo Young’s Music Show“, she took a call from a very avid ‘fan’. Wooyoung pretended to be a boy from Busan who idolizes IU; consequently, when he first ‘learned’ that he was talking to IU, he kept saying, “Am I talking with IU? Is this really IU???”
Wooyoung pulled out his acting skills to make his voice sound really shocked and nervous. When Lee Soo Young asked the fan why he liked IU, he replied “There’s no specific reason“. He said that all of his friends liked her, and loved seeing her on “Dream High“. Hilariously, he also told her not to talk to ‘Jason’ anymore because he’s “a bad person“.
The fan revealed himself to be an ‘aspiring singer from Busan’, and he wanted to sing a song for IU. He belted out the chorus from 2PM’s “Again & Again“, as IU listened on with amazement. Lee Soo Young was quick to pick up Wooyoung’s voice, and scolded, “Wooyoung, please stop!”, but IU remained clueless, even commenting that he sounded like either Wooyoung or Junsu.
When Wooyoung finally admitted his identity, IU was shocked and couldn’t hold back her laughter. Afterwards, she grabbed a sheet of paper to fan her face, and said that she couldn’t believe it was really Wooyoung. The two asked each other why they both haven’t been keeping in touch, and Wooyoung revealed that he was busy promoting in Japan.
